Well it has been a long but great week. So far we are loving Anchorage, despite the fact it has rained everyday we've been here. No fun!!! I'll take the dogs out in the morning for a little run and the weather is beautiful but by afternoon the showers roll in. We love our new place (definately miss my deep sinks, granite counters, oak cabinets, red & yellow walls and fireplace from our place in St. George), but after finally gettin up all my wall decorations and what not it looks so good. It's right in the center of town close to both our jobs, Costco, Walmart, Sportsmans, REI, etc. Oh and yes, Jeff finally found a job. We are both so excited and its what he wants to do and it even includes benefits, which is a plus since working PRN at the hospital doesn't give us any. We are working on getting our Alaska Licenses but they require so much freakin paper work. But we got the truck registered, gotta love no sales tax in Alaska. What would've been $1600 to license our new truck only cost $270. Life up here definately is different. Even going grocery shopping is a change to not have the usually brands (aka Cream of Weber, Granny Sycamore bread, etc) The milk cartoons here are hilarious (pic below) and believe it or not, instead of deer crossing signs (Alaska doesn't have deer up here except for on remote islands) they have Moose crossing, even on posted on the highway in town. We say our first moose cross one of the busiest streets in Anchorage (equivalent to St. George Blvd) and apparently they are all over University of Anchorage Campus, too weird to me. I also spotted our first black bear in town, catching fish in the river.
We are going on our first Alaskan adventure tomorrow. Its a small one day cruise on a Catamaran Ship. It's called the 26 glacier cruise, which yes we will see 26 glaciers as well as Killer whales and Beluga Whales spawning and sea lions, dolphins, etc. We are pretty excited. We both have family up here and we are worried that 2 years here won't be enough time to experience everything. I've even suggested to Jeff we look into buying a house here so we can keep our residency here. Jeff is pretty excited to go hunting and fishing. He wants to try to get a black bear hut in before winter. Apparently shooting a black bear here is like shooting a deer in Utah, they are just everywhere and the tags are killer cheap. Well the pics are mostly for family to see what our home is like. We also drove to the Anchorage Temple today, it was beautiful (even in the gloomy rain). It definately is smaller and it shares the same parking lot as our stake center, kinda funny.

Living Room and Dining table

Not a fan of the yellow counter tops but what do you expect from a apt built in 1970.

This storage closet is HUGE!!! We love it!!! Conner this is your room when you come to visit. The people before us used it as an office.

I don't have pics of the 2 bedrooms cuz we still need to get a dresser for our room and a bed and decortions for the guest bedroom. Anyone is welcome to come visit, really truly. We want visitors so bad. So start saving money for the airfare and everything else is on us!!!
