Polar Plunge 2010
Yesterday Jeff and his buddy Terrance jumped into FREEZING ice water for the Special Olymice fundraiser. They cute a whole in the ice of a frozen lake here in town and people come in all sorts of costumes (or no costumes) to take this plunge. Jeff had NO DESIRE to do this... many times throughout the week he wanted to back out. Even the morning of the event he was just sick to his stomach about it. But he did it and it was hilariuos to watch. It was for a great cause and there was an incredible turn out. They had huge dome tents with hot tubes to relax in after they plunged and then another tent for free hot chocolate, soups and goodies. Meg and I went to support our husbands and enjoyed warming up by the campfires all around. Once in the hot tub, I asked Jeff if he would do this again and he said "In a heart beat!" He can't wait til next year... maybe we will sign him up for other similar plunges around Alaska if he loves it so much! It was 1 degree outside at 10:15 am when they jumped, and it warmed up to a whooping 8 degrees for the high of the day... so yes, it is very cold here, can you imagine how cold the water was? As you can see he looked so hot in his thermals, swim suit and hiking boots!!! So proud of Jeff and his desire to experience as much of Alaska as we can.
